Skullshifter: Inner demons

04/11/08  ||  Kampfar

Skullsplitter, Skullcrusher, Skullfucker, Skullbreaker, Skullripper, and I have could went on for at least 2 more, is all better names than Skullshifter ever will be. Then again, “Inner demons” isn’t actually ace, so I guess they landed on a one proper after all. I will tell you exactly why this album isn’t very good, but before doing so, I must quote the band:

“Focusing on the darkest, most primitive urges which are in constant turmoil within every one of us.”

Having heard and being a fan of shit like Morgue, Insect Warfare, Abaddon Incarnate, Aborym, and I could have went on for at least 500 more, makes the line I just quoted extremely laughable and pathetic. It’s not like having mental problems and a legion of inner demons is anything to brag about, not in the least, but when presenting yourself as the connoisseur of being fucked in the head, I expect urgency, panic, hate, despair, and more, to be very much present. A big fat no on all accounts.

Die.

So, just what kind of music do Skullshitter perform? The answer to that question is anemic thrash sporting a vocalist in constant need of taking a shit. But it is not like he is shitting all over the music, more like besides it, all the time he isn’t connected to it in the least. It is hard to imagine such an immense lack of self-insight, but this bunch of Americans probably smiled and cherished themselves when hearing the final cut of “Inner demons”. Hard, because here is barely anything done right. Make that nada.

This is not a band per se, just a bunch of fuckwits who happened to record an album together. Quit already. And if not, don’t ever send yer shit our way again.

Fuck off.

1,5 out of 10.
